Event will honor GEAR UP Georgia students that are A/B Honor Roll and provide academic guidance and postsecondary counseling.
GEAR UP Georgia and Usher’s New Look (UNL) are joined by a common purpose of ensuring that students participating in the GEAR UP Leadership Academy virtual enrichment workshops over the course of the 2021-2022 school year, focused on leadership, spark (talent) development, financial literacy, career development, and college readiness.
The bi-weekly, hour and a half long sessions will take place on Tuesday’s at 6pm, twice a month. The GEAR UP Leadership Academy youth are dynamic high schoolers from
various counties in Georgia.
Leadership Academy Schedule:
The Dream Catcher curriculum will cover various elements of college & career planning along with some essential life skills to foster student success in high school and in postsecondary.
GEAR UP Georgia students attending will be provided GrubHub credit towards dinner during the event. Most register for the workshop one day prior to the event and be in attendance to receive the Grubhub credit.

On November 17th at 5:30 pm, come join our experts and volunteers from The Scholarship Academy and GEAR UP Georgia to learn about the Dell Scholars Program. In this session, we will be providing an overview of the scholarship application, information on where and how to apply for the program, and the necessary application materials. Don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity to receive assistance with your Dell Scholars Program application!

November is Post-Secondary Options Month for Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools. This year, the SCCPSS School Counseling Department and GEAR UP GA are partnering with The Big Tide Environmental Career Expo to engage students at the intersections of Leadership Development, Science/Technology, Career Exploration, and Entrepreneurship. This in-person event will be held on November 16, 2021, at 10 a.m. at the Savannah Trade and Convention Center.
Attendees will be provided the opportunity to experience and engage with:
Students will walk away from the experience empowered with the knowledge to fuel their post-secondary educational aspirations, take ownership of their leadership role within our environment, and experience interactive exhibits that explore a diverse group of career pathways. Participants will be required to wear masks and social distancing practices will be followed. Students to bring a Chromebook, laptop, or another form of technology for use during the application ance sessions.

Campus Tours and Recreation Activity Center Tours will be offered throughout the day. We invite you to come and take part in all the excitement that Eagle Preview has to offer. Campus Tours will be offered every 15 minutes starting at 10:30 AM. These will last until 12:30 PM. Tours of select residence halls and Recreation Activities Center (RAC) tours will also be offered.

Join us to participate in a workshop to learn the various career paths of Environmental Engineering and participate in a hand- on Hydroponics Workshop. Hydroponics is a useful technique for growing plants without soil. You will be able to learn more about this technique and potentially start your own hydroponics garden in this workshop! We are excited to show you more opportunities in this field and expand on your career options.
The Hydroponics Workshop is limited to 15 students. We are accepting 20 registrations on a first-come, first-serve basis. Five students will remain on the waitlist and will be notified by GEAR UP regarding status before the class. Please be 100% sure you can participate before you commit.
A National Celebration Centering First-gen Voices will feature a panel of first-gen students and graduates sharing insight into their experience, moderated by Dr. Quintin B. Bullock, President, Community College of Allegheny County located in Allegheny Pennsylvania. It is through our understanding of the first-gen identity and experiences we may better align institution resources and support offerings to meet the unique needs of first-gen students.
